I remember when I was just starting out in this business, I was working full time at MIT here in Boston, my commute was 30-45 minutes each way. I woke up at O’dark thirty and returned home between 5:45pm-6:00pm tired and exhausted. My wife and I would spend some time together then have dinner.
After dinner I only had a few hours to work on my affiliate marketing business. I would stay up late working on my business-my dream-and go to work with bloodshot eyes-dead tired. I did this for months on end, I’m sure a lot of you can relate.
Life was stressful, I was trapped in the rat race, trying to build a business that would set me free from the 9-5 drudgery in a job I absolutely hated. After failed campaign, after failed campaign, there were many nights I asked myself: “Is this really worth it? I mean I have a $90,000/yr job with good benefits. Am I just kidding myself with this dream of escaping the rat race and becoming financially free? I’m spend all my free time doing my business, I have no time to spend with my family or in social/recreational activities.”
I can tell you without a doubt it’s WORTH IT, I would do 5 times as much to achieve success in affiliate marketing. My life is so awesome right now that sometimes I pinch myself, just to make sure I’m not dreaming.
I rolled out of bed at 10:30am today (it’s so awesome not answering to an alarm clock), I check my stats for the previous day as I do every morning. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the search volume was up for my campaigns, I had a cool $5,000 profit day. That’s more than enough to cover the cost of our personal chef for the next 2 1/2 months!

There are few things in life more awesome than having a personal chef, my wife and I eat delicious gourmet meals everyday: rack of lamb, chicken marsala, jerk pork loin, seared tilapia, etc etc. Just today I had mouthwatering stir fried chicken bok choi, lamb pockets stuffed with mint, nuts, and rice, and my favorite Jamaican jerk pork loin.
We also have professional maid service, where a team of 4 come to our condo once a week. Within 30 minutes our condo is absolutely spotless! Of course having a personal concierge run around town to do errands for you, like faxing documents, going to the store to do some shopping, is truly a blessing. I also can’t forget the laundry lady who picks up our dirty laundry and returns it the next day clean and perfectly folded.
The biggest benefits of being a successful super-affiliate is having control of your life and not having to answer to anyone but yourself. There’s nothing better than being free! My life is SO MUCH better than it was back in the rat race. Just imagine jumping out of bed every morning, passionate about what you do, working from the convenience of your own home, and making over 10X what you used to make at your day job.
Please understand, my intention is not to brag about how great my life is, but to show you what is possible with affiliate marketing. When I started affiliate marketing my goals was to make $500/month, I NEVER dreamed that I would be making a 7-figure income as a super-affiliate.
Don’t listen to negative friends and family members who laugh or try to put you down, stay persistent with your affiliate marketing efforts. I knew NOTHING about the internet when I started internet marketing 2 years ago, I had to buy a basic book on html, it took me weeks just to learn how to put up a simple webpage. If I, who knew nothing, can succeed at affiliate marketing then YOU can too!

Hi Amit,
Amit, good for you !
How much do you spend on each camp. ? Do you always bid the lowest dollar amount ?
Thanks
Hi Steve,
I spend over $3000/day on PPC. I don’t always bid the lowest dollar amount. My goal is to get 100% ROI or better, that is to get $6000 or more back if I spend $3000.
The key to getting high ROI is to setup conversion tracking with your merchant so you can see which keywords/adgroups are converting to sales. You want to let your campaign run for several weeks to get proper statistics before you start adjusting bids up and down based on what converts and what doesn’t.
Amit,
Excellent Post! I’ve just googled our name and found your address. I’ll be at your place with my luggage around 6pm tonight. LOL j/k
This is a wonderful blog and I enjoy reading your posts as I am a new PPC’er!
I am very happy for you!
Peter
Hi Amit,
Thanks for the tip !
Steve
Amit,
In your landing pages do you use a lot of Geo-Targeting ?
Thanks
Hi Steve,
As far as geo-targetting goes, I would stick with: US, UK, CA, NZ, and AU.
Hi Amit,
Great to know you are one of the speakers in the affiliate summit in Miami. I will try my best to attend.
Hey, I had one question. When you advertise on 1000’s of keywords, don’t you run into quality score issues? I have seen this happen to me. I probably have 20-25 pages of content in my site but i have seen some quality score issues. Sometime the minute i add a new adgroup, google asssigns it a “poor” score. What are your thoughts?
Thanks,
Ajay
Hi Ajay,
I run into the same problem, even though my sites have pages and pages of unique content some of my adgroups STILL get hit with a “poor” quality score. I will talk more about this in today’s post.
