Weekend at the Ritz Carlton Key Biscayne

I gotta tell you, my wife and I love it down here in Miami, we just got burned out moving in (still have some decorating left to do) so we decided to hit the beach this last weekend.

We didn’t just hit the beach, we turned it into a weekend mini vacation at the Ritz Carlton in Key Biscayne!

Although Key Biscayne is only a 30 minute drive from our place in Coral Gables, it’s its own little island, both quiet and secluded. It’s perfect for a weekend getaway.

Shilpi and I have stayed at several 5 star hotels, but this is the first time we stayed at a Ritz, and all I can tell you is that it’s an AMAZING experience. The service, the food, the location (right on the beach) is all amazing.

Here’s what’s really cool…

I got a ton of perks for booking the Ritz with my black card :

PERK #1 : Upon check in our room was immediately upgraded to a Oceanside Suite. The room was HUGE, it had a seperate living room and bedroom, 2 bathrooms, a shower + a bathtub, and 2 balconies.

Our Suite was on the 12th floor so the view was great :

PERK #2 : We got full American breakfast buffet for 2 each morning + plus on time lunch for 2 all completely free.

We actually only ended up paying for dinner at the Cioppino the 2 nights we were there, which wasn’t keep, but it was some of the best food we’d had in a long time!

The Cioppino serves authentic Tuscan cuisine and was name one of the top 20 new restaurants in the US.

Get this : they fly in cheese from Tuscany twice a week. I won’t bludgeon you with what a meal for 2 costs at this restaurant, let’s just say I’m glad that our lunch and breakfast was covered!

PERK #3: $50 cover for incidental expenses. Not a big deal compared to the room upgrade and the food, but it all adds up.

We didn’t do too much while we were there, expect spend some time at the pool, and on the beach. We planned to go snorkeling but it was canceled (water was too choppy), however, we ended up biking through one of the parks on the island, and that was very cool.

Shilpi and I have some more little trips planned this summer, just enjoying our time while we’re in South Florida!

    wow staying at the Ritz??

It is always important to reward yourself though after a goal met :)

  2. Stan says:

    Stop showing off.

Couple of weeks ago you had a post where you described how people that envy you don’t like when you are saying how good your life is.

Well, I don’t mind if someone has success, expecially achieved by hard work. The fact why your posts are pissing me off lately is that up to that time (couple of weeks ago) you never were showing off. But since that post you are like a 8 year old that had good Christmas.

I wish you great personal life but why are you making it so public? You will regret one, you will see.

Stan -> F**k OFF. It’s ok if you say that you don’t like Amit posting pictures like the ones above but to tell him that he will regret it someday is going a bit overboard. Are you saying that you hope he loses all his money and his business goes down the drain? How about if I tell you that I wish you lose all your money and land up on the streets tomorrow.

  4. Stan says:

    Wow, what a reaction Randy.

    I said:
“I wish you great personal life but why are you making it so public? You will regret one [day], you will see.”

By that I meant to say that many people that achieve success want to enjoy it, and that is good. But sometimes they go too far with exposing their personal lives because they enjoy it (at the time). Then when they are older they regret it because they have no privacy.

Anyways, I am not taking your (Randy) comment seriously because it was a clear misunderstanding. And I never said that I “…don’t like Amit posting pictures…”.

I respect him for what he has done and I wish him all the best but why show off so much. On the other hand, Amit can say that this is his personal blog, so I guess I should not judge him. All I am saying that I haven’t seen showing off on such a scale yet. But maybe I haven’t seen much in my life yet, since I am only 25.

    Stan,

Amit adds a lot of credibility by showing this stuff. I don’t know if I’d be into Affiliate Marketing as much if I wasn’t actually able to see for myself what’s possible. It definitely shows that he isn’t just full of hot air.

    Hi Amit,

Good to see that you had a great weekend off …

As for the Amex black card, I’m not sure if this is a perk because you end up paying for it in the annual fee of $2500+ for the card, and Amex has to make a profit out of you.

On another note, I look forward to part 2 of your 3 part ebook series.

  7. Waylen says:

Thanks for sharing your vacay pics Amit. For me these kind of posts peppered nicely in your blog are great! They don’t come across as bragging for me, Its just sharing with us readers what is made possible with affiliate marketing. It fits in perfectly with the “super affiliate mindset” theme of your blog in my opinion. I like these kind of posts on blogs because its a brief reprieve from all the technical posts that I read, and it reminds me of what is possible with hard work and dedication. Lastly I just trust affiliate bloggers more that show off there lifestlye a little. This way I know there not BS’n and I can put more weight on the info that I get from the more technical posts. Hope you won’t hold back in the future Amit, these kind of posts really inspire me to excel as an affiliate.
    -Cheers

    Hi JohnJ,

$2500 a year fee for the black card is steep, but if you travel a lot like I do then you will get that $2500 back in no time. The upgrade to the Suite alone was worth $1200, it’s a $1000/night room we got for $400/night.

My wife and I got 10 free personal training sessions at Equinox using our Amex card, and that was just our personal Platinum Card! Those sessions are worth $1000.

Amex makes their profit by charging a 3% fee to the merchant, as you can imagine they make a significant profit off of black card holders even with all the perks.

haha start exercising man… but i suppose rich man tend to slack of easily on their fitness when they got too much money to spend! ha

  10. Randy says:

Stan – Guess I overreacted a bit. I just don’t like it when people wish ill luck to someone else when that person has done nothing wrong. But yeah since you mentioned it with regard to his privacy I would say that is a fair opinion.
