My Two Days with Mr. Adwords

I’m at the Chicago O’hare Airport on my way back from a 2 day coaching intensive (me and about 5 other people) with none other than Mr. Perry Marshall, world renowned authority on Google Adwords.

First thing I can tell you is that Perry is a very down to earth guy.

We all met at his house, and I expected it to be a palatial mansion in an upscale part of Chicago, with Lexus LS430, and a Ferrari Enzo parked in the front. Perry lives way below his means, he drives a Toyota Camry and lives in a middle class neighborhood. He’s also very easy to talk to, and just and all around good guy.

His office is on the top floor of his house, windows all around, multiple computer, and what impressed me most were the 1000s of books in his personal library. Perry is extremely well read (there’s a BIG tip in that, success people read a LOT).

Over the two days everyone had the rare opportunity to be on a hot seat with Perry for several hours. We could basically ask Perry about anything we wanted regarding business or marketing.

I’m not allowed discuss what we talk about, all highly confidential. What I can tell you is that we discussed things that you’ll never read in any ebook. Stuff that would blow your mind!

Perry knowledge about business and marketing extend way beyond Adwords, and honestly I didn’t ask him that much about Adwords. My goals was to understand how the man thinks, his mindset, what strategies he uses to dominate markets, his process for making long term decisions for his business, etc, etc.

I was also blown away by how successful and sharp the other members of the coaching program were. All of them had successful business: Don was a successful ophthalmologist (and one of the funniest guys I’ve ever met), Larry owns a multi-million dollar industrial crane business, and Micheal & Danna are super successful information marketers.

Here’s another tip: the number ONE way to succeed is to associate with other successful people.

Thursday evening Perry took everyone out on the town. We headed to downtown Chicago to an incredible seafood place, where I had Alaskan king crab legs. Yum!

Afterwards, we all headed to a Broadway show, “Wicked”, an awesome show-an excellent twist on the Wizard of Oz.

Perry has agreed to be a guest speaker for the Super Affiliate Mastermind Counsel that Miles Baker and I started. We will record the call and I will post it on the blog. So stay tuned! :)

I read Perry (and Bryan Todd’s) “Ultimate Guide To Google AdWords” a few months ago and it is totally helpful in terms of learning how to write ads, select keywords, and split test creative. I have not read Perry’s e-book and am wondering if there is a lot more info there. Still, the hardcover is definitely worth a read and is an invaluable reference. So Perry does a lot of things besides AdWords?

dude i think 90% of the reviews you do, you say the stuff is very highly confidental, and can never talk about it, so whats the point of making a post if its not to teach your readers anything?

  3. Josh says:

Great job. Perry is definitely the king of his league. The material he has produced is very easy to understand and powerfully effective.

  4. Amit says:

    Hi Dude,

First off all this is not a review, and in fact I have not done any reviews. There’s no affiliate promotions or advertising of any kind on this blog.

My objective is to share my experiences and my knowledge so I can give a helping hand to the many affiliate out there who are still trying to make it work.

If you have a problem with that, then too bad.

  5. DerekBeau says:

Sounds like you had a great time Amit! I’ve read a lot of Perry Marshall’s stuff and have listened to teleconferences he has hosted… he really does know his stuff. I would attribute half of my PPC knowledge to Perry, and the other half to my own experimenting.

@dude – there is actually something you can take away from this post: read Perry’s material and go meet him yourself if you have the funds. It seems like Amit is building some great relationships, there’s no reason he should violate their trust by sharing information that they agreed to keep under wraps.

  6. Amit says:

    Hi Tim,

Yeah, Perry’s ebook is great! I would also recommend the Ultra Advanced Black Belt Course on Adwords by Perry Marshall and Don Crowther.

Perry has a lot of knowledge about direct marketing, and information marketing in general.

Looks like you were in my neck of the woods, Amit. Hope you enjoyed Chicago – it’s a beautiful city and REALLY fun in the summertime! :D

  8. Doug says:

Amit, sounds like a great 2 days. However, my question is, did you get Perry to admit that affiliate marketing can be a “real” business?

Hi Amit, I have been devouring everything I can get my hands on since I seriously started this business a few weeks ago. I have my second campaign going, and I’m in the process of reading every post on your blog.
I ordered Perry Marshall’s book and paid for it last week. It’s supposed to be an immediate download link, but I haven’t got it yet. I have been emailing their help / support every day since, and I get no response. I don’t even want a refund – I just want the MFing book for ****’s sake!!!! Anyhow, Keep up the great work. Good to hear Mr. Marshall is as impressive in person. That is encouraging. Oh, and I Would have a Ferrari Enzo parked outside :-)
BTW, what car do you drive??
    best regards,
    -Vinay
