Google’s Christmas Present

December 13th, 2007 by Amit

When you start spending big money with Adwords, Google periodically sends you presents, which are usually cool little gizmos of one sort or another.

Okay, I have to admit, my favorite gift from Google is the mini fridge, you can see mine in the lower right hand corner of this picture:

before-trip.jpg

You know you’re a super affiliate when you get that mini fridge in the mail! LOL

Seriously you have to spend some serious cash with Google before they send you one.

Before that Google had sent me a digital photo display gizmo, which I ended up throwing away.

Now just yesterday I received the coolest gadget to date from Google :

Do you know what this is?

It’s a 2GB portable hard drive that’s the size of a credit card!

Pretty Cool!

Not as cool as an Amex Black card but I had to spend way more money to qualify for this little Google present than I did to qualify for my black card!

You’d think if you spend over $1,000,000 with Google in one year they’d fly you to their headquarters and throw you a party along with all the other high spenders.

Still waiting on that invitation!

    Hi Amit,

yes, this present is really nice, I got it one week ago. But the digital picture frame last year was a little bit nicer in my opinion :-)

How many beers can you fit in the fridge Amit? Haha

Aside from that, I think that 1,000,000 a year is chump change compared to Google’s biggest advertisers.

Nice work on getting the fridge and USB drive…

I got the USB drive last week, but no fridge. :) I spend 6 figures on Google each year, so maybe only the million dollar spenders get the good stuff :). And my AMEX is still Gold…

yes I got the USB drive too… we also got a $200 gift card we can donate to the school of our choice. From what I gather, the amount varies…

I’m not sure on the details as my partner received it at our company address, and he handles our finances, but he mentioned going to a particular website to see a list of participating schools.

Our little town’s school wasn’t listed but there is a sign up page he said. Schools can sign up and list what they need and recipients of the gift card can browse schools and choose who they want to receive the cash.

My partner is going to talk to our local school about signing up and listing a need so we can donate it to them.. and the best part is, the donation is in our company name :-)

I thought this present was kind of crappy. Last year I got a digital picture frame from them, much better than this year’s usb card and donation card.

I got this card too, and I am still trying to figure out how it works as it wont fit any of the slots on my laptop. I tried my pcimca slot but it doesn’t take it and I am using a Dell inspiron 630M.Perhaps you or anyone reading this could please could post instructions about how to use it ;-)

For those of you that can’t figure out how to use it, flip out that little flap and stick it in a USB port :)

Anyways, I thought this was the coolest Google present yet. The first thing I got from them was a stupid “kit” with a 64mb USB1.0 thumb drive, a travel mouse, and some other crap. Then I got two fridges from them (two accounts) and they don’t get very cold, so I gave them away.

When I opened this box I was like “what the hell, is this a change purse or something?”. I almost threw it away, but then decided to check inside and found the card. I don’t have much use for it (I carry a USB drive on my keys), but it’s really fun to pull out of my wallet and makes a great conversation piece when I’m out with friends.

I could never get my digital photo display to work…although I didn’t try very hard. For me this USB card is just one more Google gift that I’m never gonna use.
