Okay, now that I’ve laid the ground work here’s the top 3 books (NOT in any special order) that I recommend:
“Rich Dad, Poor Dad” by Robert Kiyosaki
This is the first book I read on personal finance, and man did it open my eyes! Chances are if you’re a regular reader of this blog you’ve already read “Rich Dad, Poor Dad,” if you haven’t I would get a copy immediately.
Robert Kiyosaki talks about the fundamental difference in mindset between, a poor person, a middle class person, and a rich person in how they handle money.
So here’s the secret he reveals : more money will not solve your problems, it’s your mindset and the way you handle your money which will ultimately determine your financial future.
Kiyosaki defines a liability as anything that takes money out of your pocket, and an asset as anything that puts money in your pocket.
By this definition, middle class people put all their money into liabilities. This includes their home (mortgage payments), and their 401(k) (monthly deduction from their paycheck). Now eventually when they sell their home they will realize a gain and when they retire they will (hopefully) realize a gain on their 401(k).
But neither a home nor a 401(k) produce a positively monthly or yearly cashflow.
Now wealthy people focus on building assets. What are some examples of assets: a profitable ppc affilaite marketing campaign (of course!), investment real estate (as long as your cashflow is positive), etc, etc.
Formula to become wealthy : Build asset that produced positive cashflow (money machine), leverage that positive cashflow into building even more money machines.
Well, if you want the full story, READ THE BOOK!
“The Magic of Thinking Big” by David Schwartz
In my last post I talked about how your net worth will NEVER exceed your self worth. The best way to increase your self worth is to read “The Magic of Thinking Big.”
This book is all about developing a success mindset and attitude. Schwartz talk a lot about how to be successful in your job, but all his examples apply to business owners as well, since he’s talking about universal principles of success.
I really like the fact that he really hits hard on the mindset aspect : the way successful think about and approach the world and different situations.
Is it any wonder that I decided to call my blog superaffilaiteMINDSET.com!
Also, you’ll love the case studies!
“The Master Key to Riches” by Napoleon Hill
I’ve read this book about 3 times, cover to cover. It’s one of the most inspiration books on success I’ve ever read.
Read it and discover how you can achieve any goal by unlocking the power of the greatest asset you have:
YOUR MIND!
No surprise that all the 3 books I mentioned above have to do with developing the right mindset to attract success and wealth.
Developing the right mindset is the hardest part of becoming wealthy. Once you get your mind right and your thinking right the rest is REALLY EASY.

Susan,
I agree with you, I was also expecting a list of affiliate marketing books.
Just last week, I read that Affiliate Marketing is after all just Marketing. In order to crack this game one should learn about Marketing. Strangely enough I had never thought of this game as marketing before. How ‘get rich quick’ of me.
I found http://www.amazon.co.uk/Successful-Marketing-Week-Eric-Davies/dp/034084955X which has proven to be a great introduction to marketing.
Some quotes from the book:
The identification of customers’ needs, meeting this need while making a profit.
Marketing is a matching process of your product or service benefits to the customers’ needs.
After reading this I was like ‘Duh! so that’s what I’m suppose to be doing!’
Not to forget “The Science Of Getting Rich” from 1910.
The classic!

All good books indeed. More on topic with technology and web stuff, I have really enjoyed “Founders At Work” which is bunch of excellent interviews by Jessica Livingston of some of the major technology entrepreneurs of our time. Really inspiring stories of how founders struggled through a lot of early obstacles to succeed. Another great book is “The Search” by John Battelle which is a fantastic history of search engines and the evolution of PPC. I also really like this book called “Bootstrap” by Kenneth Hess which is the diary of an early tech entrepreneur and has some great lessons in it. There are so many great books to read but Napoleon Hill has to be on the top of the list. Not just about money but about how to live your life.
Rich Dad Poor Dad is a great book! It Changed the way I think about money.
xin,
I will check out your amazon book rec. Thanks.
Rich dad, poor dad is a liar, but he’s also an excellent salesman. I read a story a while ago that said he was not worth nearly as much as he claimed, but this was before his book sales exploded and before he linked up with trump. In fact, there was never a “rich” dad in his life. He made up that story. I’m not knocking him. I’m just saying he’s a saleman and you’ve all made him rich by buying his books.
Amit – would you consider putting out a book list on the techniques of affiliate marketing? do books on this topic even exist?
Thank you for the list
Mindset is a subject that I always need to be aware of and work on.
Susan,
I completely agree when you said that we made him rich by buying his book.
In reality, everyone that has a product that teaches you how to make money, is making money off the product. Take Motor Millions for instance, I just read an interview with that guy and he said that he never was profitable selling cars. His money was made off of stupid people trying to get rich quick.
If you want to make money, you need to start your own business or just sell products teaching people how to make money.
Curious if you’ve read Think and Grow Rich by Napolean Hill, and if so, how does The Master Key to Riches compare to it? Is it redundant, or does it build upon the theories discussed in TAGR?
TAGR is the book to read. I’ve read it 25 times, and I share my insights into the all time classic on my blog, aptly called the TAGR Blog. Check it out at: http://tagrblog.blogspot.com/
these books helped me change my mindset too. good choice.
here are some of my other favorite books.
