Okay, now that I’ve laid the ground work here’s the top 3 books (NOT in any special order) that I recommend:
“Rich Dad, Poor Dad” by Robert Kiyosaki
This is the first book I read on personal finance, and man did it open my eyes! Chances are if you’re a regular reader of this blog you’ve already read “Rich Dad, Poor Dad,” if you haven’t I would get a copy immediately.
Robert Kiyosaki talks about the fundamental difference in mindset between, a poor person, a middle class person, and a rich person in how they handle money.
So here’s the secret he reveals : more money will not solve your problems, it’s your mindset and the way you handle your money which will ultimately determine your financial future.
Kiyosaki defines a liability as anything that takes money out of your pocket, and an asset as anything that puts money in your pocket.
By this definition, middle class people put all their money into liabilities. This includes their home (mortgage payments), and their 401(k) (monthly deduction from their paycheck). Now eventually when they sell their home they will realize a gain and when they retire they will (hopefully) realize a gain on their 401(k).
But neither a home nor a 401(k) produce a positively monthly or yearly cashflow.
Now wealthy people focus on building assets. What are some examples of assets: a profitable ppc affilaite marketing campaign (of course!), investment real estate (as long as your cashflow is positive), etc, etc.
Formula to become wealthy : Build asset that produced positive cashflow (money machine), leverage that positive cashflow into building even more money machines.
Well, if you want the full story, READ THE BOOK!
“The Magic of Thinking Big” by David Schwartz
In my last post I talked about how your net worth will NEVER exceed your self worth. The best way to increase your self worth is to read “The Magic of Thinking Big.”
This book is all about developing a success mindset and attitude. Schwartz talk a lot about how to be successful in your job, but all his examples apply to business owners as well, since he’s talking about universal principles of success.
I really like the fact that he really hits hard on the mindset aspect : the way successful think about and approach the world and different situations.
Is it any wonder that I decided to call my blog superaffilaiteMINDSET.com!
Also, you’ll love the case studies!
“The Master Key to Riches” by Napoleon Hill
I’ve read this book about 3 times, cover to cover. It’s one of the most inspiration books on success I’ve ever read.
Read it and discover how you can achieve any goal by unlocking the power of the greatest asset you have:
YOUR MIND!
No surprise that all the 3 books I mentioned above have to do with developing the right mindset to attract success and wealth.
Developing the right mindset is the hardest part of becoming wealthy. Once you get your mind right and your thinking right the rest is REALLY EASY.

Great book recommendations Amit, I’ve read all those. The E-Myth is another one I recently read that was helpful to me. FYI, you might like to read my most recent post on quickly creating affiliate product links to Amazon…
I’ve never read the Magic of Thinking Big, I’ll have to check it out. Another good Napoleon Hill book is Think & Grow Rich.
That’s it?
um…I’ve read all those books. They’re good motivational books, but I think most of the readers of this blog already have the “mindset” – which I think is the recognition that the 9 to 5 is not the way.
I’d really like to see recommendations on websites, books or whatever, that’ll teach me how to crack this affiliate marketing thing.
Thanks for the book recommendations Amit. I have long waiting for those
Having the right mindset is more than just recognizing you do not want to live a 9-5 lifestlye. It’s much larger than that. Having the right “Mindset” requires us to set a vision of what you want and where you want to be, then realizing the type of steps you are going to have to take to get there. Always staying focused, despite the opposition or circumstances.
There is no book, website or any material that has ‘cracked’ the affiliate marketing business. There never will be one of those. There is only one way to achieve success in affiliate marketing and that is to determine within yourself that you are going to ‘crack’ it Yourself, no matter what it takes or how long it takes. That applys to anything you encounter in life. Don’t be confused in thinking that any wealthy individual was simply told how to become wealthy. They may have had a mentor or guide to help but when it comes down to the actual money, they had to dig in and find out what works for themselves.
Another good read, moderately motivating, mostly enlightening is a book call “Multiple Streams of Income” by Robert G. Allen. He also has a book out called “Multiple Streams of Internet Income” though I haven’t had the opportunity to read that yet. In his first book he shares a story with you of how he was challenged to make $24,000 in 24 hours, live on national TV. Check it out.
Keep reading this blog, Amit shares a lot of information that will definately help guide you to a successful business in PPC and Affiliate Marketing.
I belive the mindset we need is more than just riding the 9 to 5 job. I found this analogy on a christian web site about faith, but I think it also applies here.
” A stunt performer once set up a tightrope across Niagara Falls. This drew crowds on both the American and Canadian sides of the falls. He walked across it several times carrying various objects to demonstrate his superior sense of balance. He even carted a wheel-barrel across, both empty and with a heavy load. He then asked the crowd if they thought he could carry a grown human being across in the wheel-barrel. The crowd roared its approval of this stunt. The man then asked for volunteers – silence. Everyone believed he could do such a stunt, but no one believed in him enough to get in the wheel-barrel.”

When your planning your campaign and the amount of budget you will need, knowing the money you have availible, it does get hard. I have found myself lately worrying about the cost and the late hours spent. It’s not enough to know that it can be done. We must get in the barrel.
“Rich Dad, Poor Dad” is a book full of lies, most of those stories are lies. If you want an inspiration or anyting from that… Up to you I guess.
Next two are good ones. I would also add one more book from Napoleon Hill, but its your list
Your post is right on the money… money is a mind set and a tool to a better life… it’s not really money we want it’s all the things money can do for us time, freedom you name it. But unless you get a system and get your head right you’ll never get money.
Rich Dad and Poor Dad change my life, it taught me few thing I never know
1. working for other ppl never make you rich
2. focus on earning passive income
3. let your money work for you
based on this few concept, I have been able to focus all my effor building my passive income and therefore greatly change my life
Rich Dad did not change my life, but it added a part of the necessary whole to succeed for the long term. I will reiterate the books that have influenced the course of my entrepreneurial journey:
The Bible
Emyth Mastery – Michael Gerber
The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People – Stephen Covey
The Science of Getting Rich – Wallace Wattles
Read this one here free: http://en.wikisource.org/wiki/The_Science_of_Getting_Rich
Therefore I say unto you, what things soever ye DESIRE, when ye pray, BELIEVE that ye RECEIVE them and ye shall have them – Jesus Christ
Thanks Amit,
Warm Regards
