Check Out My New Place In Coral Gables, FL

May 30th, 2008 by Amit

I’m finally settled in to my new place in Coral Gables, which is a suburb of Miami.

Check it out…

The food, the culture, and just about everything else in Coral Gables ROCKS! For Shilpi and I it’s been a total upgrade from the condo we had in Boston.

As soon as we get back to Boston in 6 months we’re going to start hunting for a condo in Back Bay that will top our place in Coral Gables. Once you upgrade your lifestyle, it really bites to have to take it back down a notch.

None of this would have been possible if I wasn’t a super affiliate. The rent on our Coral Gables place is double the mortgage payment on my place in Boston, which by the way I’m still paying in full.

Even if I was a big shot in the corporate world and had the money to cover a hefty rent plus a mortgage, I wouldn’t have the freedom to move down here.

Affiliate income represent REAL FREEDOM. There’s nothing like it in the world! :)

    Hey Amit,

    Welcome to Florida!

I went to a party at the Biltmore Hotel & Resort in Coral Gables a few months ago. You gotta see this place. It would be a great place for you to hold your next Internet seminar. Just let people know way in advance because they might need financing to be able to afford the rooms LOL.

Hope you have a good time in Florida. On an other note, on paying your mortgage and the rent for the condo, I didn’t get why you did not just pay off your mortgage completely yet …

John: The same reason Paul took out a mortgage for his house.

And yeah, I agree with what you said, there’s nothing special about the condo, especially considering how hard Amit tries to tell us otherwise.

WOW! First off all if you think being successful super affiliate is about getting big houses/condos and paying them off completely you need a basic lesson in investing and growing a business.

Most wealthy people live well below their means especially when they’re in the process of building up their businesses. I bank and invest most of my affiliate profits and only use a modest percentage to cover my living expenses.

Paying off your home is an incredible waste of money that could be invested in your business.

As for not being impressed with the Condo, you’re missing the point. Living in a Condo is all about LOCATION, and if you’d understand that you don’t understand quality of life.

Jacob : What insulting to super affiliates is dummies who make a lot of quick money online, blow all of it on expensive cars and home, then get themselves financial bind and bankrupt their business.

Ever heard of the dot com bust?

Welcome to Florida Amit. I’m just north of you up in Palm Beach County. You’re right that Coral Gables is the best place in Miami. Lots of other parts of Miami are not so great.

Thomas Stanley wrote ‘The Millionaire Next Door’ which chronicled the lives and spending habits of millionaires.

Here’s an excerpt from the New York Times:
    http://www.nytimes.com/books/first/s/stanley-millionaire.html

He’s followed it up with “The Billionaire Next Door”

IMO, financial freedom is the ability to buy anything or live anywhere you choose to.

Like Amit mentioned, spending big wads of cash to try to impress others is just a sign that you haven’t made it yet.

To the detractors: it’s easy to be a back seat driver, why not post pics of your own home and ‘impress’ us?

    Hi Amit,

Your new Condo in Coral Gables is nice. Thanks for sharing the video of the place where you will be living for next six months.

Personally, I always have disliked temporary shifting as it requires planning, takes time in settling and also costs money. However, sometimes there are no choices and one has to do it.

I hope that the brightness and openness at the new place will definitely keep you more happy and energetic.

Enjoy your stay at the new place and keep the money making tips coming as usual.

    Cheers

Keep reinvesting in your business and watch it grow…

Look at Warren Buffet, there is a great example of living well below your means.

I’m looking forward to more details about your coaching program.

Come to Coral Gables some time and I’ll show you why it rocks living in this area.

    Hi Amit,

I live a little ways up in Fort Lauderdale. Coral Gables is a really nice place. Make sure you take time to explore the keys and take a cruise while you are here. BTW, Went to school in Boston and lived in back bay so I know exactly where you’re comming from. this post reminds me of how stoked I was when I first moved here. After 6 months you might not want to go back! :)

    Hey Amit,
The condo looks great, I don’t see why you would get anything bigger or fancier if it’s just you and your wife. You got all the room you need. I totally dig the idea of living below your means while you’re still building a business, I’ve already learned my lesson the hard way.

Just wanted you to know that I read your special report about the 2% of affiliates raking in all the money. It definitely caught my attention. Until now I had been sort of trying to get in on this action. Well I read your report and I also went out and bought the book you mentioned in the report and I’m loving it. I have to say it points out so many things that I know I’m doing wrong it almost feels like a scolding. I got a lot of work to do. It’s a great book!

Thanks for the report and the recommendation, looking forward to part II.

    Amit,

Congrats man. The condo looks nice. I go to Merrick Park every now and then. I live about 15-20 minutes north of you.

I am totally in agreement with your logic about money. I own my own real estate firm and made about 15-20K per month (when it was good for about 1 year) and paid everything off except my mortgage but beat that up too.

I drive an old vehicle (very embarrassing at times) while many of my friends are driving new Mercedes. I can’t tell you how happy I am with no payments and how miserable they are because they are working for the man to pay for that car. I can go as I please anytime anywhere for the most part because my overhead is very low.

I love freedom more than materialistic things. Yes I want them and will get them but first I am securing freedom!

    So keep rocking!

I have three favorite parts of the video.

    1) The 15 times he finds the need to let us know he is on the 7th floor. “Here I am again, still on the 7th floor.” Funny and shallow all at the same time.

    2) His Nordstrom comment. I’ve seen him at events, and the guys attire is similar to things you would find at Marshall’s. I guess money doesn’t equate to style.

    3) I love the comment about Equinox being one of the best gyms. Who cares? Because you go to a good gym you will somehow get in “better” shape? HaHa.

You are one funny dude Amit.

If I made $100,000 dollars a month in pure profit (is that how much you make amit?) I would not have a mortgage. I would have paid off my condo and would be able to sleep nicely at night, knowing that even if my business went down, I’d always have a roof over my head.

I don’t believe in wasting money on silly luxury items, but until you have $5 million dollars in cash, put away in the bank, you are better off paying off the mortage, just in case your business goes bust.

After reading all this, I just have one thing to say. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but some opinions are best kept to yourself. Why does everyone have to be so judgmental? Making money at affiliate marketing is a great deal tougher than most books lead you to think.

I am in Jeremy’s class and will be looking for a mentor soon.

    Amit,

Welcome to Florida! I am surprised you didn’t pick out an oceanfront condo! Andrew mentioned ’The Millionaire Next Door’ . This is a great book. I read it about a year ago and it talks about people living below their means. It is important to have money in the bank, especially as an affiliate marketer. You will need the cushion in the bank to make up for the highs and lows of affiliate marketing.

    Great Digs Amit,

Your place looks real nice and quite simply laid out for a super affiliate.

I like Merrick place. My sister used to be at the Bottega store there till the store moved to bal harbor. And guess who walked in to the store one day last month. Abichek and Ash Bachan came in several times to pick out stuff.

I guess italian handbags are cheaper here then the sub-continent. My sister said that Ash was without makeup and simply looked stunning. She also said that Ash was quite down to earth compared to when you see her in interviews where she comes off like she just graduated from finishing school in Switzerland

Something doesnt quite add up there, I mean any man in there right mind would pay there mortgage off, as someone said above if the business ever goes bust you have a roof over your head and also the total amount you pay back for a mortgage is rediculous, why wouldnt you pay it off??
