Celebrating Personal Freedom on Independance Day

July the 4th is Independence Day in the US, it’s a day of barbeque’s and fireworks.

But really, how free are people in the US, and every other country around the world? Most people are stuck in a job that they hate, slaving away for an elusive retirement when they’re 65 years old (or older) and about to drop dead anyway. And most of these people will retire with less money than they had in their working years.

THAT’S NO WAY TO LIVE!

People are so obsessed with chasing security, that they’ve forgotten how to live!

And don’t give me this bs: “Amit, well you’re LUCKY, not everyone can live like you!” I had a plan. I choose this awesome lifestyle I live now. I struggled for years. I did what other didn’t have to guts to do. The harder I worked and the more determined I got, the “luckier” I got.

You got to be willing to risk and make some sacrifices in the short term to earn your personal freedom from the rat race. If your dream & desire is strong enough you can be financially free and live your dream life.

On the 4th of July, Independence Day, I really had time to reflect on how great being free is, and not being enslaved to “The Man” anymore.

My wife and I went to the North End here in Boston and walked the Freedom Trail, and saw Paul Revere’s House.

We then spend the evening on a beautiful yacht, with an amazing view of Massachusetts Bay Area. We had some amazing pork chops for dinner, and had great conversion with another couple, who own several businesses in Boston and had, get this, 500 employees!

We talked about the benefits of racking up tons of Membership Points with American Express. In my opinion the best benefit is being able to get free first class tickets for 90,000 points!

Around 10:30pm we watched fireworks from the top of the yacht. What an experience! :)

    Hey Amit,
Great to see you post pics of yourself and your beautiful wife.

I think what may not be apparent in your post is that the greatest freedom that we enjoy.

Sure, some Wall Street investment banker might be pulling about the same as us. But he’s trapped in some concrete building for 16 hours a day, while we’re sitting at our computers, sending each other jokes and funny pictures over AIM.

There’s really no value I can put on being able to bring my daughter to playschool every week and guiding her as she learns her ABC’s.

More than the Amexs or the plat credit cards, is the freedom to call your own shots, and I think our Personal “Independence Day” which we celebrate EVERY day encapsulates it perfectly!

PS: I’ve have tagged “Amex” to a Credit Card CPA offer, but oh well!
    :)

Do you spend wisely on investments? Do any serious travel? To me $450 is cheap for a good night out.

  3. Hi Amit & Andrew,
Man oh man you touched the aching nerve.
I am determined more than ever……

    Vijay
    Freedom is all I want,
Freedom is all I shall have.

Sounds like you had a great time Amit. It really is amazing to be able to do whatever you want and not have to conform to a set schedule or answer to a boss :-)

Amit, another cool post. Does your wife help you with the business? I also enjoyed looking over your power point presentation from Affiliate Summit, just got it from my manager. Wish I had your audio to go with it!

I think it’s great how determined you are to motivate other people with your blog! Getting the kind of life you want is one thing, helping others get the kind of life they want is really admirable. Thanks for the motivation!

My wife is actually going to Optometry School, she plans to work only 2 days week and only part of the year, thanks to the freedom provided by this business. :)
