Affiliate Bonus: 10 Day Alaskan Cruise, Part I

About a year back one of my affiliate manager (for one of the products I’m promoting) offered me a very special bonus if I could consistently do 250 sales a day for 30 days.

Now 250 sales/day for this particular affiliate offer was very substantial since this offer had a very high payout.

My bonus: 10 Day Alaskan Cruise for me and my wife, first class all the way!

Now when my affiliate manager first told me about this bonus I was doing a whopping 20 sales/day for this offer, so I had a LOT of work to do.

But you know what? I was super motivated to make this Alaskan cruise a reality. In fact I PROMISED my wife that we would we going on an Alaskan cruise in 2007.

I also had another motivation, a big tax bill coming up the following year, I had foolishly not saved enough to pay my tax bill. Actually in retrospect it turned out to be way lower than I though, but at the time it really motivated me to build my business.

Needless to say I got to work! I first formed a team: Melanie was responsible for the content and copy, and I found a great web designer on elance who build the site (and I work with him to this day).

At one point I was literally spending 10 hours a day setting up the keywords into adgroups, writing ads, etc, etc.

All the hard work paid off, in December of 2006 my sales ballooned from 20/day to over 200/day. In January they fell back to 150/day, but then I kept aggressively expanding my campaigns and push the sales to over 250/day in February and qualified for the affiliate bonus!

All I can say that it was TOTALLY WORTH IT! It was the BEST vacation Shilpi and I have ever been on.

The 10 day cruise actually turned out to be a 7 day cruise with 3 days in Denali National Park before we boarded the cruise ship.

The highlights of the 3 day land tour was a ride on a small propeller plane around Mount McKinley, I got to sit in the copilot seat! Check it out…
