A Day in Manhattan with Azoogle

August 29th, 2007 by Amit

If you want to talk about culture shock, spend 5 days in Bermuda then go to Manhattan.

Bermuda is the epitome of the friendly laid back island culture, and Manhattan in the epitome of fast paced, high strung, city life.

My wife, my mom, and I went to Manhattan to get our India Visas renewed for our trip to India this December. Walking into the Indian Consulate was like being transported directly to india: ceiling fans, wiring running across the wall, cockroaches in the restroom, and a VERY long line. LOL

After we finished with that, 2 hours later, we headed to Azoogle’s new (under construction) headquarters. It was great to finally met Audrey, my affiliate manager, in person.

Five of us went to lunch: Me, Shilpi, my mom, Audrey, and Mitch, the director of affiliate management.

After having lunch with Mitch and Audrey, I’m even more excited about working with Azoogle. They really are a great company, they really care about their affiliates and treat them well.

Actually visiting the company you work with and meeting the people there really gives you confidence that your business is in good hands. You have to remember this business is all about relationships, our success would not be possible without great affiliate networks like Azoogle out there.

We depend on each other for success, the affiliate needs the affiliate networks (and vice versa).

The stronger the relationships you build the more successful you will be as an affiliate. Just remember no ones a lone ranger in this business, we all need to work together to really succeed to our full potential.

“Walking into the Indian Consulate was like being transported directly to india: ceiling fans, wiring running across the wall, cockroaches in the restroom, and a VERY long line.”

Ceiling fans, wiring etc is fine - but cockroaches?? You should be ashamed for making this sound like a normal thing, you must be coming from some village or something in India - Some cinema halls, restaurants, bars, clubs etc in places like Bombay and Delhi are better than those in NYC. Talk about restrooms - have you ever seen the restrooms in New York subway - they are more gross than some public restrooms in India.

I am compelled to write this, as you have a good audience, and they do not take India in a wrong way. India is the leading IT hub of the world, and some of the IT campuses in India are better than here in terms of brain power and technology, and restrooms - if you want to consider those.

    Hi Vijay,

I am Indian, and I mean no offense to India or anyone Indian. It was a joke! We have to learn to laugh at ourselves now and them.

And YES everything I said was true regarding the Consulate. Indian has come a long way, and I’m very proud of that fact. However, it is ashamed that the Indian Consulate is still effectively third world status.

    Sincerely,
    Amit

    Hi,

I was going to write the same thing as Vijay, Unless if you are from the lower lower class in India, most places are not like this. Thanks for representing your country well, as most westerners only see India as nothing more then you described.

    Good Luck Bud.

    Amit,

You need a PR firm. It’s quite an accomplishment to piss off the trolls on wickedfire one day and then a whole country the next.

LOL!!! Akshay and Vijay, come on now. Most of India’s population is below poverty line. So don’t talk about “low class”.. you should be ashamed of talking about classes, in this day and age.

I thought AzoogleAds offices were in Toronto.

You can really get in there that easily? Or is it just for super affiliates?

That’s a good criteria to pick an aff manager, by how “hot” she is…

    I’ll have to remember that…

I was just thinking that this post is a good object lesson.
He is meeting with his manager. I get the same message from other super affiliate blogs. Communicate, don’t be a loner.
Don’t know if that was the original point of this post Amit, but your sure do emphizise that point. Thanks.
